FBR AND BUSINESS COMMUNITY JOIN HANDS TO RESOLVE PENDING TAX ISSUES AND ACCELERATE REFUNDS

The Federal Board of Revenue has agreed to establish joint committees with the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry and the Pakistan Business Council to address long-standing tax issues faced by businesses. The understanding was reached during a high-level meeting held in Karachi under the special directions of the Prime Minister.

The discussions focused on delayed refunds, complicated compliance procedures, taxpayer grievances and complaints regarding unnecessary harassment by tax officials. The FBR Chairman assured the business community that legitimate taxpayers would be treated fairly and that strict standards of professionalism and integrity would be maintained across field formations.

The proposed committees will include senior FBR officials and representatives of leading business bodies. Their role will be to streamline tax processes, expedite pending matters, improve stakeholder consultation and provide a continuous platform through which genuine business concerns may be raised and resolved.
