Pakistan has ordered immediate measures to make the newly established Sky47 AI National Data Centre available to federal government institutions. The objective is to create a central repository for government data rather than requiring every institution to maintain its own separate data centre.
Once the national digital vision is fully implemented, citizens may be able to access document verification, banking, healthcare, transfers and other public services through a single digital identity. The initial implementation priorities include health, agriculture, utilities, housing and small and medium-sized enterprises, followed by additional priority sectors.
The housing component is expected to introduce a central identification number for public and private properties, while businesses may receive integrated legal business identities. If supported by proper privacy, security and data-governance safeguards, the initiative could reduce duplication, improve service delivery and strengthen coordination between federal and provincial institutions.
